We arrived in Japan according to a special program – the students who had won an award in our school. Be sure we were stroked by the roads and bridges in this amazing country. I felt like a bird soaring on the land with small people when we were crossing the bridges. They are like spaghetti in two or three levels. The roads are perfect – it is possible to drink coffee while driving at high speed.
However, we were here as students and were interested in high education – universities, colleges and institutes. My friend told much about Japan and its colleges but I couldn’t just imagine that would be so exciting. It appeared to be usual for people to study in their home towns. Only some of them try out their independence and move away from home. My friend noticed that most colleges prefer first-year students to live in hostels. Some of them guarantee to provide lodging for fresher because seeing for the first time many wonders in Japan seems a challenging experience and students feel comforting atmosphere being out of native place. The first year students meet the principle before the start of the college year, talk on various aspects of students’ life and, of course, get to know the city in which the college is situated. It is an obligatory activity. Therefore, the first days in college are devoted to completing the formalities of registration. The majority of students sign up for two or more clubs after they find out if they have spare time for one or two. Teachers are lucky to have the students who are versatile both in mind and hand – they are ready to help everyone who needs their advice in solving any problems. Young people are satisfied to watch such well-organized institutions. For students can be greatly influenced when they feel that they are being taught by mature men and women who are prepared to regard them as young adults rather than overgrown children. My friend and I spend the whole day with Japanese students and were impressed greatly. Be sure we arranged to connect each other in the future. As for me, I have fallen in love with a teacher of English and began thinking about marriage. It is natural if a young man or woman meets your future husband or wife right in the country that is far away from home. But, in my opinion, marriage will affect the academic studies and therefore it would be better not to harry with a date. I will wait a little and in two or three years I am going to start getting in touch with my Japanese teacher.
